Latham Residence draws from the American Shingle Style tradition — the coastal “cottage” architecture that defined turn-of-the-century Long Island and New England waterfront estates — and layers it with Tudor Revival detailing, resulting in a transitional, contemporary take on a historic vocabulary.

The most distinctive gesture is the pair of bell-cast, curved-eave gambrel roofs anchoring the front-facing gables, each punctuated by a tall, Gothic-arched window and finished with applied half-timbering in a radiating fan pattern — a direct nod to English Tudor Revival cottages of the early 1900s. A dark standing-seam metal roof unifies these gables with the rest of the massing, giving the silhouette a crisp, contemporary edge against its traditional form.
